I recently began a new study entitled, “Pressing Toward the Heavenly Calling” by Steve Gallagher. First off, I wish to say how much I’ve come to enjoy his writings. He’s a very passionate and direct writer, and I highly recommend his books. Here’s a link to see all his works. https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Daps&field-keywords=Steve+Gallagher
I wish to share my journey through this study, because I love to impart things I learn and treasures I Pick up while studying. I pray it’s a blessing to someone, and ultimately leads a hungry soul to seek more of God, and be more Kingdom Minded: That’s the purpose of my blog!
This study focuses on the Prison Epistles written by the Apostle Paul. You can feel the passion and urgency in his writings, because he knows his time on earth is but s vapor, and his mission is to spread the Gospel, edify the body, and ultimately “fight the good fight of Faith, and receive his crown of Righteousness!” Pauls writings are a divine impartation of Revelation he received from his unbroken fellowship with God Almighty. This study is meant to peel back the layers, and get us to slow down and meditate as you go through the Epistles: picking up precious gold nuggets along the way. My first entry on this series was to give a synopsis, and leave you with a powerful truth when approaching the Sacred Scriptures. I encourage all to delve into the Word of God and allow it to feed your soul. Combining your study with a great biblical study such as this one, will truly enhance your digging into God’s infallible Word. I pray it brings a blessing, and motivates someone to “press toward your Heavenly calling!”
I wish to share a powerful excerpt from his opening Introduction to the book: Mr. Gallagher has challenged us to approach the treasure troves of Scripture, by having a mind of expectation and excitement, of “what will God show me today?” He goes on to say:
“unless we realize our dependence upon the Holy Spirit the WORD will not speak to us,” penned Dr. Lloyd Jones. “If we read the Word of God without praying for enlightenment, we shall probably get very little out of it!” We must never depart from the consciousness of our dependence upon the Spirit’s power and enlightenment. The anointing, the unction from the Holy One, of which the Apostle John speaks is needed constantly and increasingly.
The Bible is truly the most majestic book to ever be written. Life jumps off the pages, and takes on personal enlightenment, when we allow it to become nestled into our hearts. It’s the one existing source of infallible Truth, and it’s our road map to Heaven. Humble yourselves today, and allow it to reign over your life, and watch Spirtual blessings follow. I look forward to part two of my series entitled, “Called to be Holy!”
Blessings in Jesus Name, JDS
