~ 2 Chronicles 18 sheds light into the DNA of a deceived heart!
We read in this Chapter, where King Ahab wanted the voice of God, but only a version that tickled his ears. He needed a word from the Lord so he sought out false prophets whom he knew would itch his ears for him. King Jehoshaphat had discernment and knew they still needed a true prophet of God, so they sought out Micaiah. Ahab didn’t want anything to do with him, because he spoke Truth into the Heart of the wicked king. Scripture reveals a powerful insight into the mind of God and the spirits at work in the world today. Micaiah exposed the false prophets by proclaiming a lying spirit had been granted by God to come down and lie to Ahab through these false prophets: Showing us, those who wish to be deceived to soothe their conscience will indeed become subject to the seducing spirits of this world. King Ahab only wanted to hear what pleased his flesh. He had no interest in the Truth of God’s Word. So today, people pilfer through Churches trying to find the false prophets willing to tell them all their heart’s desire. They have no desire to hear truth, and you know what, God will allow them to become seduced by the spirits of the world.
Paul speaks on this very subject in Thessalonians:
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved. And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness. (2 Thessalonians 2:10-12 KJV)
If our hearts reject Truth, we will become deluded with a false sense of Righteousness: That is a scary place to be in the life of a Christian, especially one who has “been enlightened with the fullness of Truth!”
Paul said this would come to pass: For a time is coming when people will no longer listen to sound and wholesome teaching. They will follow their own desires and will look for teachers who will tell them whatever their itching ears want to hear. They will reject the truth and chase after myths.
King Ahab never surrendered the reigns of his heart over to Jehovah, and it cost him his eternal soul. Eternity is too long to walk through life without the Truth of God’s Word hidden in our hearts. We must love it with all our heart, cherish it and protect it with every fiber of our being. Truth is the only thing that can truly make us free and ultimately get us to Heaven. 2 Blessed [are] they that keep his testimonies, [and that] seek him with the whole heart. 34 Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with [my] whole heart. 58 I intreated thy favour with [my] whole heart: be merciful unto me according to thy word. 69 The proud have forged a lie against me: [but] I will keep thy precepts with [my] whole heart. (Psalm 119:2,34,58,69 KJV)
1 ALEPH. Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD. 2 Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. 3 They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways. 4 Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently. 5 O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes! 6 Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments. 7 I will praise thee with uprightness of heart, when I shall have learned thy righteous judgments. 8 I will keep thy statutes: O forsake me not utterly. 9 BETH. Wherewithal shall a young man cleanse his way? by taking heed theretoaccording to thy word. 10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. 11 Thy word have I hid in mine heart, that I might not sin against thee. 12 Blessed art thou, O LORD: teach me thy statutes. 13 With my lips have I declared all the judgments of thy mouth. 14 I have rejoiced in the way of thy testimonies, as much as in all riches. 15 I will meditate in thy precepts, and have respect unto thy ways. 16 I will delight myself in thy statutes: I will not forget thy word. (Psalm 119: 1-16 KJV)
