Seasons come and seasons go — trials arise, and circumstances change. Our feelings go high, and they come crashing down. There is a universal law in life — It Is The Ebb and Flow…Mountains and Valleys. Sunshine and Storms.
To think David went from giant killer, to being chased like an animal through the woods. Elijah went from praying down fire from Heaven, to fleeing for his life because of a scorned woman. Job went from the most blessed life, to a life of pain and misery — all in one day! Joseph went from a heavenly dream, to a nightmare on earth.
It is in this universal ebb and flow, that the enemy of our soul can do the greatest harm. He comes swooping in for the kill — “God doesn’t love you. If he did, you wouldn’t be going through this.” The voice of the enemy can drown out the voice of faith and reasoning. This is a most vulnerable time in our walk with the Lord.
David left us with a most glorious illustration to a soul perplexed — yet not forsaken.
Psalms 42:5-11 (KJV) 5 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and [why] art thou disquieted in me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him [for] the help of his countenance. 6 O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember thee from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.
7 Deep calleth unto deep at the noise of thy waterspouts: all thy waves and thy billows are gone over me. 8 [Yet] the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song [shall be] with me, [and] my prayer unto the God of my life. 9 I will say unto God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?
10 [As] with a sword in my bones, mine enemies reproach me; while they say daily unto me, Where [is] thy God? 11 Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, [who is] the health of my countenance, and my God.
Deep calleth unto the deep — all thy waves and billows are gone over me…Lord, I am sinking…
🔹YET🔹…there is a powerful truth in this small conjunctive word!!
David proceeds in spite of his circumstance — “Yet the LORD will command his lovingkindness in the daytime, and in the night his song [shall be] with me, [and] my prayer unto the God of my life.”
The Lord understands our human frailty:
Psalms 103:13-17 (KJV) 13 Like as a father pitieth [his] children, [so] the LORD pitieth them that fear him. 14 For he knoweth our frame; he remembereth that we [are] dust. 15 [As for] man, his days [are] as grass: as a flower of the field, so he flourisheth. 16 For the wind passeth over it, and it is gone; and the place thereof shall know it no more. 17 But the mercy of the LORD [is] from everlasting to everlasting upon them that fear him, and his righteousness unto children’s children;
Perhaps 2020 has not been very kind to you.
YET….will I praise Him.
Perhaps you didn’t get the doctor’s report you were hoping for.
YET….will I praise Him.
Perhaps your son or daughter has turned their back on God, and broken your heart.
YET….will I praise Him.
Perhaps….(You fill in the blank)
YET….will I praise Him.
In the loneliest of times, David perhaps in a cave running for his life, stopped and said — “Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, [who is] the health of my countenance, and my God.”
Seasons come and seasons go — YET…God is and will forever be, the same yesterday – today – and forevermore! If He did it once, rest assure He will do it again. Through it all, we must learn to trust in Jesus!
Blessings,

Psalms 37:23-25 (KJV) 23 The steps of a [good] man are ordered by the LORD: and he delighteth in his way. 24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth [him with] his hand. 25 I have been young, and [now] am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
