Wisdom For The Journey

Divine Principle / Life Lesson #1

— “knowledge without application leads to a life of hardship and deception.” Knowledge alone isn’t good enough — we must act upon which we know! We’re then able to move into the realm of wisdom. Knowledge is having the answer, but wisdom is knowing when to apply that answer. Just because we know a truth, doesn’t mean we need to tell the truth in that moment.

Life is about getting from the chair of the simple [void of understanding], and moving into the chair of the wise. It’s also about avoiding the chair of the fool and scoffer!

When reading the book of Proverbs — Solomon wants us to understand, we must PERCEIVE and RECEIVE God’s wisdom.

“To receive the instruction of wisdom, justice, and judgment, and equity; To give subtilty to the simple, to the young man knowledge and discretion. A wise man will hear, and will increase learning; and a man of understanding shall attain unto wise counsels:” (Proverbs 1:3-5, KJV)

🔹THE SCHOOL OF LIFE (according to John Maxwell)🔹

Rule #1: You will learn lessons.

Rule #2: There are no mistakes—only lessons.

Rule #3: A lesson is repeated until it is learned.

Rule #4: If you don’t learn the easy lessons, they get harder.

Rule #5: You’ll know you’ve learned a lesson when your actions change.

Moving from the simple to the wise…

🔹THE CALL FOR WISDOM🔹

“Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets: She crieth in the chief place of concourse, in the openings of the gates: in the city she uttereth her words, saying, How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity? and the scorners delight in their scorning, and fools hate knowledge? Turn you at my reproof: behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you, I will make known my words unto you. Because I have called, and ye refused; I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded; But ye have set at nought all my counsel, and would none of my reproof: I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh; When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you. Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer; they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me: For that they hated knowledge, and did not choose the fear of the LORD: They would none of my counsel: they despised all my reproof. Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way, and be filled with their own devices. For the turning away of the simple shall slay them, and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them. But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely, and shall be quiet from fear of evil.” (Proverbs 1:20-33, KJV)

“My son, if thou wilt receive my words, and hide my commandments with thee; So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom, and apply thine heart to understanding; Yea, if thou criest after knowledge, and liftest up thy voice for understanding; If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures; Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God. For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding. He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous: he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.” (Proverbs 2:1-7, KJV)
